Make thee an ark of wood; rooms shalt thou make in the ark, and shalt pitch it within and without with siding and insulation. And this is the fashion which thou shalt make it of: The length of the ark shall be twenty five cubits deep, the breadth of it eighteen cubits, and the height…

The windows of heaven are open…
The blessing are falling tonight, and there is joy, joy, joy in our hearts since Jesus made everything right. He took all of our old shattered shingles, will give us a roof of delight. We are feasting on daylight from heaven and that is why we are happy tonight! Oh, the windows of heaven are…
Jacob’s ladder is now installed
And Jacob went out from Beersheba, and went toward Haran. And he lighted upon a certain place, and tarried there all night, because the sun was set; and he took of the stones of that place, and put them for his pillows, and lay down in that place to sleep. And he dreamed, and behold…
Two stories and blue skies for a ceiling.
We did a full inspection of today’s work and once again found 7 wonderful children in the walls. We have fully enjoyed every evening walking thru the walls, hanging on the beams, and sitting in the windows. Tonight we were enjoying the warm air and the blue skies. The roof was gone completely from front…
New space coming into focus
The old improperly installed supporting beam is now gone and substitute beams are in holding the new bracing and floor joists. The boys floor over our entry way is now starting to take place. This week we will see the second floor start coming more into place.
Stairless and no showers
Big move in the construction zone today. We had our old living room walls removed, and our stairs demolished and removed. We will not be able to access out upper floors for about a week. This means we are with out showers. There will be a whole bunch of stinky Kirk’s running around the neighbor…
No turning back. All settled in.
We have officially crossed the threshold of turning back. The girl’s new floor is in our old living room, oddly resting in mid air. The stairs have been completely torn apart, railings and all. The carpet has ceased to function, bare wood and nails everywhere. Our walls look like the prophets of old were digging…
The BEAM and the craziness we found.
Our lumber has been delivered. Things seems to be moving along. The walls and second floor joists are now installed. The room is now more visible of what it will look like in the future. Window framing is set. Every night when I get home from work I get with the children and Jane and…
The writing on the wall
We have completed a phase of our remodel with our foundation and subfloor. It’s exciting to see the actual size of the room and the space for the downstairs area. The upstairs is still a little hard to imagine. Our contractor is faithfully doing what he needs to do and has been doing a great…
Faces in the subfloor
The foundation molds were dismounted and taken off this morning. The earth was back filled along part of the new foundation. The subfloor is starting to be assembled. It will be a matter of days before we start seeing the walls start to rise. When I came home I allowed the munchkins to carefully explore…
So crazy here we are running up walls.
Our living room is now somewhat empty. Jane was quietly sitting in the corner of the room enjoying a few quite moments of satisfaction and Ben came in and started running back and forth in the room touching one wall and then another. Jane says, “Ben, if you run fast enough you can run up…
